Dr Patrick Bourgeois is a bovine practitioner shareholder of the Upton Veterinary Service in Montérégie. His 30 years of practical experience, his involvement in many AMVPQ committees as a delegate for his region, including on the association's strategic planning will allow him to continue his commitment and his contribution to the developments of the FASA and the establishment of its governance structure.
Dr Paul Baillargeon was a bovine practitioner at the St-Louis Embryobec Veterinary Clinic in St-Louis-de-Gonzague for 29 years. During these years, Dr. Baillargeon was one of the pioneering practicing veterinarians, investors and leaders of the ASTLQ research and development project (Amélioration de la santé des troupeaux laitiers du Québec/ Improving dairy herd health in Quebec) which led to the development of software for the management of computerized dairy health records and the development of a centralized database. This project led to the creation in 2002 of the DSAHR Company, which develops and offers various computerized tools to practicing veterinarians. Between 2003 and 2016, Dr. Baillargeon worked as a veterinarian in the ruminant technical services at Zoetis. He is still active as an advisory veterinarian with the Cull Cattle and Dairy Calf Marketing Committee of the Quebec Cattle Producers since 2017. His experiences will help promote the importance of the participation of veterinarians as FASA builders.
Dr Guillaume Bergeron is a bovine practitioner who graduated in 2006 and has been a shareholder of the Bon Conseil Veterinary Clinic in Centre-du-Québec since 2011. Dr. Bergeron has a strong interest in preventive medicine for dairy cattle, as well as for mammary and calf health. Organic dairy production is close to his heart and he is involved in various committees and organizes, in collaboration, the Organic Milk Symposium since several years. Dr. Bergeron has been involved in the AMVPQ association since 2018 and he made the leap as a member of the FASA Board of Directors when it was created in 2020.
Dre Marie-Hélène Forget, graduated from the Faculté de médecine Vétérinaire de l’Université de Montréal in 2000. She also has a specialized postgraduate diploma in management (UQAM 2016). She is a partner of the St-Alexis SENC Veterinary Clinic, which has twelve veterinarians dedicated to farm animals. She practices bovine medicine in the regions of Lanaudière, Laurentides and Laval. She has developed a particular interest in preventive medicine and the management of herd problems and, more recently, in equine medicine. She is also involved in the AMVPQ, where she currently is the vice-president on its Board of directors since June 2023. Dr. Forget was the first president of FASA, from its creation in December 2020 until February 2023.
M. Paul Doyon is the representative of the Union des Producteurs Agricoles (UPA). Mr. Doyon is a dairy and maple syrup producer in Saint-Joseph-des-Érables, in the Chaudière-Appalaches region. On this land, generations of Doyon have succeeded each other for 275 years and all have seen to highlight its agricultural potential. Mr. Doyon is a co-owner of the farm with his wife, Élise Jacques, and his son, Paul-Étienne. They raise a dairy herd of 160 heads and cultivate 200 hectares. Very involved in the life of agricultural associations, Mr. Doyon has been president of the regional group of young farmers in addition to being very active in the organization of the marketing of maple syrup. In October 2011, he became president of the Regional Federation of the Union des Producteurs Agricoles (UPA) of Chaudière-Appalaches. Committed to his community, Mr. Doyon was also a municipal councilor for six years. He was elected a member of the Executive Council of UPA in January 2014 and has been the first general vice-president of UPA since December 2021. His knowledge and experience on numerous committees in the dairy cattle health sector will be assets as a director of the FASA.
Dr Émile Bouchard, retired m.v., is the representative from the Faculté de médecine vétérinaire from the Université de Montréal. Dr. Bouchard worked as a professor in dairy cattle population medicine at the Faculty’s ambulatory clinic for nearly 40 years. He is currently an associate and honorary professor. Dr. Bouchard has been involved in teaching population medicine, as well as in the creation of DSAHR and the Canadian Bovine Mastitis Research Network. Through his role on the Board of Directors, Dr. Bouchard aims to continue his contribution to research and the development of animal health management tools and diagnostic aids in veterinary medicine, as well as initiatives leading to disease prevention. Prevention ultimately leads to a reduction in the use of medications and antibiotics.
Dr Frédéric Tremblay is a bovine practitioner and shareholder of the Ste-Marie Veterinary Service in the Chaudière-Appalaches region. His years of experience in practice since 1996, his excellent knowledge of the dairy cattle sector, his creative spirit in finding innovative solutions, his professional interest in knowledge transfer and the development of benchmarking tools on the use of drugs in dairy production for its clients and more recently as a member of the Working Group for the benchmarking interface on the use of antibiotics in dairy cows in Quebec are all elements that will contribute to the FASA's mission during his mandate as a director.
